Center Trans, Genderqueer DC

Center Trans is a peer-led support group that welcomes all who identify under the trans umbrella or are unsure, and seeks to always reinforce principles of respect, acceptance and protection via ongoing input from attendees. People of all classes, races, sexual orientations and gender identitie are welcome.

Genderqueer DC is a peer support group which covers issues related to nonbinary/trans gender identity. The group is a welcoming space to share experiences. People of all gender identities are welcome to attend, but our meetings are focused on the needs of nonbinary/ trans/questioning people. Friends, family, and allies are welcome.

The Gender Affirming Care and Services Program at Whitman-Walker Health [WWH] supports people as young as 13 years old with gender affirming care.

WWH recognizes that no two people have the same goal for themselves in their gender affirmation journey (sometimes called a transition), and aims to provide a variety of services to meet the needs of trans* and non-binary people in the DC Metro Area.

These services may include medical care, behavioral health care, surgical referrals, assistance with name and gender changes, insurance navigation and other supportive services to help reach your health and wellness goals. WWH also has info about services in the community if there are resources that it does not provide, or if you’re weighing all of your options.

Gender Affirming Care

The STAR TRACK Pediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Health Program’s at the University of Maryland Medicine provides health services, expertise and leadership throughout the State of Maryland by:

Providing comprehensive, interdisciplinary, individualized and confidential health care to infants, children, youth, and young adults living with or at risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS.

Providing youth centered reproductive health care, health education, prevention, and early intervention services to people living with or at risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS.
Offering general health care, school and sports physicals, contraception, and family planning resources to adolescents and young adults.
Tailoring our programs to meet clients’ needs and offering specialized advocacy, care and outreach to LGBTQ youth.

Training and educating professionals about gender and sexuality, youth care and engagement, structural oppression, and HIV prevention.
Shaping local, state and national public policy that impacts infants, children, youth and young adults living with or at risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS.
Working in collaboration with other Maryland organizations that improve outcomes for youth in systems such as juvenile justice, housing, reproductive justice, and education.

Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health

Gender Affirming Care and Services

The Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health offers comprehensive, evidence-based and affirming care for transgender youth and adults that is in line with the standards of care set by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

We offer services for children and adolescents, dermatology, facial gender surgery, fertility, gynecology and obstetrics, hormone treatment, hysterectomy, mental health, penile construction (phalloplasty/metoidioplasty), primary care, top surgery (mastectomy or augmentation), urology, vaginal construction (vaginoplasty), and voice therapy.

Embracing diversity and inclusion, the Center for Transgender Health provides affirming, objective, person-centered care. We improve health and enhance wellness; educate interdisciplinary health care professionals to provide culturally competent, evidence-based care; inform the public on transgender and non-binary health issues; and advance medical knowledge by conducting biomedical research.

Crisis Hotline by Trans folks, for Trans folks

Trans Lifeline provides trans peer support for our community that’s been divested from police since day one. Trans Lifeline is run by and for trans people. Trans folks want to live in a world where we can trust that the help we seek during a crisis will be supportive, not harmful.

Trans people deserve hotlines that center safety, agency, and have transparent policies. We should not be hurt, criminalized, deported, or forced into treatment we don’t consent to.

Trans Lifeline also provides microgrants for name changes, incarcerated or recently released trans people, gender affirming hair removal, a holiday commissary fundraiser, and works in collaboration with the Trans Migrant Project, and the Queer Detainee Empowerment Project.
